Site Photography
Every photograph was selected for its geographic and contextual relevance to Sault Ste. Marie and the Michigan Upper Peninsula — the operating territory of SMG QROF. Images are presented with the brand's navy duotone treatment throughout the site.
Autumn Canopy Meets Lake Superior
Aerial drone photograph of a dense hardwood forest in peak autumn colour — reds, oranges, and yellows — meeting the deep blue of Lake Superior along the Upper Peninsula shoreline, Michigan.
Soo Locks Canal, Sault Ste. Marie
Ships docked in the St. Marys River canal adjacent to the Soo Locks — the defining civil-engineering landmark of Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. Industrial smokestacks and a power plant frame the waterway on a grey overcast day.
Sault Ste. Marie Riverfront Park
Brick-paved walkway winding through a landscaped city park on a sunny summer day. The International Bridge connecting Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan to Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada is visible on the distant horizon — the only confirmed on-location photograph of the city used in this project.
Lake Superior Shoreline, Upper Peninsula
Sandy beach shoreline where grassy dunes and a birch-and-pine forest edge meet the turquoise waves of Lake Superior under a clear blue sky. Classic Michigan Upper Peninsula Great Lakes scenery.
Pictured Rocks Cliffs, Lake Superior
Birch trees in lush summer foliage frame ancient sandstone cliff faces arching over the vivid turquoise water of Lake Superior at Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore near Munising, Michigan Upper Peninsula.
Aerial Rocky Coastline, Lake Superior
High-altitude aerial drone view of a rugged Lake Superior coastline — fractured dark basalt and granite boulders meet teal water, with a dense boreal forest canopy running to the cliff edge. Autumn colour beginning to appear in the tree canopy.
UP Clear-Water Shoreline, Aerial
Aerial view looking straight down at a sandy Upper Peninsula beach. Shallow crystalline water reveals submerged stones along a curved forest edge. The transparency of the water emphasises the pristine character of Great Lakes shoreline land.
UP Dock and Sailboat, Northern Lake
A weathered wooden dock extends into a calm, deep-blue inland lake. A white sailboat is moored to the right. The far shore is lined with a thick wall of northern Michigan boreal forest beneath a bright summer sky with high cirrus clouds.
